Holding The Man – The Movie

Most people seem to want to know about Holding The Man – The Movie. The film version of Holding The Man has been completed it is directed by Neil Armfield with a script by Tommy Murphy. Ryan Corr plays Tim and Craig Stott is John. The film had its world premiere at the Sydney Film Festival on 14 June 2015

Earlier director Tony Ayres has written a script for Holding The Man. The December 1999 issue of Outrage magazine contained an interview with Tony Ayres. It says that he is yet to complete the second draft of the script. He says “I have reached the point with Holding The Man where I wasn’t quite sure how to go about getting to the next point, so it’s on hold until the end of the year when I have a huge burst of energy and finish some of those unfinished projects”

Holding The Man – On The Stage

Tommy Murphy has adapted Holding The Man for the stage. The script is available for purchase from Currency Press

In 2006 the Griffin Theatre Company premiered Tommy Murphy’s adaptation of Holding The Man. It has also been performed at the Sydney Opera House in May 2007. (Thanks to Mick) and in Melbourne by the MTC. It has since gone overseas to London and other countries.
